I am passionate about travel, human rights, and transitional justice. Having an international family, I grew up traveling the world––some of my favorite places I’ve explored are Argentina, Greece, and Tunisia. On childhood trips to Pakistan, my parents’ home country, I learned about the 1947 partition between India and Pakistan. I became curious about how survivors of partition––including my own grandparents and great grandparents––dealt with the grief, trauma, and tumult of that time. These questions led me to study transitional justice, the process by which states redress, repair, and remember human rights abuses after a period of mass violence. I believe in using courts to advance the rights to truth, justice, reparation, and guarantees of non-recurrence for victims of human rights violations. I plan on pursuing a career in transitional justice and international law.
